A wet pendulum test gives a British Pendulum Number, which AS 4586:2013 groups into six classes from P0 to P5. HB 198:2014 then recommends a minimum class for each kind of location. A P3 result is fine for some floors and a clear failure for others, which is why the report always names the location type it was measured against.

The moments a slip test earns its keep
Slip resistance is a property that changes. Wear polishes a surface, sealers and cleaning residues fill in texture, and a new cleaning contractor can change everything in a fortnight. Testing is most valuable at the points where the risk or the accountability shifts.
- After an incident. A measured rating taken soon after a fall is the evidence that shows whether the floor was the problem. See slip testing and liability claims.
- Before a handover. Taking or returning a lease, a new fit-out, or a body corporate accepting a common area. See strata slip testing.
- When the cleaning changes. New contractor, new chemical, new machine. Grip can move a full class either way.
- On a program. Annual testing is the usual benchmark for managed sites, with wet and high-traffic areas tested more often, and a portfolio is far easier to run under one supplier. See national slip testing programs.

How much does a slip test cost?
Programs are priced per site per year after scoping. Single sites can be priced online: choose the city, list the areas and the fixed price appears before you book, with nothing to pay until after the visit.
Which test do you use?
Both on-site methods in AS 4663:2013. The wet pendulum test is used for any floor that can get wet in service and gives a P rating from P0 to P5. The dry floor friction test is used for surfaces that stay dry and gives a D0 or D1 rating.
What do I get after the visit?
A written report by email covering every tested area: the measured values, the classification, how it compares with the recommendations in HB 198:2014 for that type of location, and what we suggest you do about any area that falls short.
Can you fix a floor that fails?
Yes. Premrest quotes and carries out the rectification, from a cleaning change to an anti-slip treatment or coating, and Sliptest retests afterwards to record the new rating in your register.
Do you test outside business hours?
